My Jewel Story:
Like most people I heard her on the radio for a while.. but then my best friend Mike told me he just bought POY and it was really good.. so a couple weeks later we were both obsessed with her and printed out pictures of her from online and thought we were all cool 'cause nobody knew about her yet, hehe.. we did the usual obsessed fan things, recorded every appearance she made on tv, bought every magazine she was in, listened to bootlegs, etc.. then eventually we went to her concert at the Toledo Zoo Ampitheater, we made a huge sign for her with half of a bedsheet and markers, and recorded the whole thing (most of it, the smart security men finally caught on but they confiscated a blank tape instead, hehe, we're soo sneaky).. so that's it, it's all thanks to Mike, my Jewel buddy. I've learned that with Jewel's lyrics (as well as many other songwriters) there's lots of different meanings, not just the obvious intended one.. and if you can figure out which one means the most to you, it makes the song even better and can almost become a personal anthem. Okay, so that's no big secret, but I thought I'd share anyway.
